Dinghy sailing on Saturday 11th May.

Published 14:41 on 12 May 2013

HRSC dinghy sailors were out in force (as was the wind) on Saturday, with the youngest and newest sailing off the beach in oppies and Mirrors, and the more experienced (in ability and age) taking part in the Harbour Masters Pursuit race.

Club members entered their Foxers, Tera, Wayfarer, Lasers, Picos, and a couple of Feva’s. The wind provided some challenging sailing, which tested sailors and boats alike, with the wayfarer almost sinking. In the slow handicap fleet, HRSC was dominant, with this class being won by Rob in his Foxer, second was William and Eleanor Yonge in Feva, followed by Chris Hamel in a Foxer, with our youngest sailor to complete the race, Robert MacFarlane coming 4th in a Pico. This meant that once again HRSC won the Club Trophy, which has returned to its place in the clubhouse.

The younger sailors had a great time off the beach, in and out of boats; it is lovely to see the next cohort of members taking to the water, who in a few years time can take part in the annual pursuit race and help the club retain the trophy once again.
