  • Wednesday 12th June

An excellent evening was enjoyed by all watching Bramblemet, many in the warmth of the pub, steady at some 19 to 20 knots base wind with average gust levels of 30 to 34 knots from 6pm to 8pm. A very good call to cancel normal racing by the race officer and in sufficient time to prevent crew from rushing on the roads only to find a cancellation on arrival – thank you. Lis Robinson

  • HRSC Cadets make it a clean sweep

What a great day the Cadets had at the Onboard Pico Open on Saturday 8th June as cadets from HRSC, SWAC, Warsash, Hillhead and Lymington all took to the water in the Onboard Pico Regatta. The conditions were difficult - gusty on the course and no wind at the windward mark. Congratulations to Callum Weston who came first in the single handers and brothers Robert and Andrew McFarlane who took first in the double handers making it

  • Dinghy sailing on Saturday 11th May.

HRSC dinghy sailors were out in force (as was the wind) on Saturday, with the youngest and newest sailing off the beach in oppies and Mirrors, and the more experienced (in ability and age) taking part in the Harbour Masters Pursuit race. Club members entered their Foxers, Tera, Wayfarer, Lasers, Picos, and a couple of Feva’s. The wind provided some challenging sailing, which tested sailors and boats alike, with the wayfarer almost sinking. In the slow handicap

    Bottle Pursuit

On Wednesday the 1st of May, Hamble River Sailing Club organised the Bottle Pursuit, which is the traditional transition between the Early Bird Series and the A Series. Seventeen boats made their way into the Solent, where the conditions were as good as they could be, nice sunshine and a northerly breeze, around 10 knots. This unusual wind direction was a bit challenging for the Race Officers, as it forced setting a start line not

  • Junior Warming Pan 2013

In very testing conditions - heavy driving rain and between 20 and 25 knots of wind - we held the Junior Warming Pan on Saturday 13th April. It was colder and wetter than the Warming Pan held in March, so well done to all our cadet sailors - you were great! Chris Hamel, Cadet Race Officer, did well to run two races. Chris was supported by Jan and Elaine on Retriever. Rib drivers and crew

2013 Hamble Warming Pan regatta - 16/17 March

The weather Gods were not smiling for the Warming Pan, held for the 51st year at Hamble River Sailing Club on the 3rd weekend in March. Full marks then to the 62 boats that braved the frustrating conditions, unable to work hard enough even to get warm. But however trying it was for competitors and race team alike, even conditions such as these reward the skilful, and the final prize list was like a Who's Who
