  • Wednesday Racing 1/8/12

Another great HRSC Wednesday evening race bathing in the glorious British summer! Although the weather this series and indeed last has not been great this week was an exception. With near on ideal conditions for most boats we were set a course that first took us over to Calshot and then out into the Solent. In the XOD class an impressive 8 boats turned out and despite John Harding (Calypso) taking line honours,

    Oppie Race Course

Seven lucky cadets spent the week brushing up on their racing techniques, under the watchful eye of racing instructor Fiona Jones. All seven achieved the RYA Start Racing qualification, and felt attending the course will really help them in their future sailing and racing. There was beautiful weather all week, and they spent time both in the river, as well as out on the solent. As part of the course the Cadets had to learn about boat

  • WOW and MOB evening out rescheduled!

Hi WOW & MOB members Well it looks like summer might have finally arrived so lets make the most of it. Following the cancellation of our "Jolly to the Jolly" due to awkward tides I thought that we should have another go at holding a joint WOW & MOB evening. Firefly Open at Hamble River Sailing Club

The 2012 Hamble River SC Firefly Open Meeting was held on Sunday 22 July. Unusually for this long standing event a one day, three race format was used this year, to allow the one-off River Hamble Games to take place on the Saturday. The Open meeting was one of the final sea opens before this year’s Firefly National Championship which takes place at Pwllheli in the last week of August. The meeting attracted nineteen entries comprising

    IRC Small Boat Regatta

They came from the four corners of The Solent, from Portsmouth to Lymington and Cowes to Southampton to take part in the inaugural ‘IRC Small Boat Championship’. When the concept was first discussed we had no idea how many boats would enter but following a bit of ‘market research’ with prospective owners the event was on. Twenty nine boats entered! The event was organised through the Solent IRC Owners Assoc. driven by committee members Graham Nixon and

  • Onboard Regatta

The wind blew and we decided that the leeshore at Hillhead was not the place to be so we invited them to Hamble. Even so it was really gusty and everyone did well to survive. Chris Hamel and Tim set them a very testing course. Hillhead kindly brought the food and we supplied the boats and held the first of the two leg series at Hamble instead of Hillhead. The cadets did us
